Eurosigns help Year Ten students with mock interviews at Worle Community School

On Wednesday 4th July, Our Key Accounts Co Ordinator Dan took part in Worle School’s mock interview day. Taking on the role of an employer looking for staff for his mock business. Each interview lasted approximately 15 minutes. Candidates would arrive with their CV and be interviewed for the position on offer.

Dan was really impressed with the quality of interviews considering it was the students first time they had been in an interview, which is nerve racking for students and seasoned professionals. He was pleased to represent the company working within the community and with a local school. “It was great experience for me as well; being the interviewer is not something you get to practice too often. I am pleased that I was able to benefit the students by helping them practice a life skill which in turn was a serious confidence boost for them” said Dan when asked about the day.

His highlight was of course a day off work but helping to coach the most nervous students through the process of interview and seeing how excited they were when they realised what they’d achieved. He found the day extremely rewarding and would be more than happy to attend again next year.

His favourite interview was with the student who he awarded the role to. “She spoke so passionately about wanting to be a police officer, I’d never heard anyone at that age talk with such vigour and determination, very impressive”

As he reflected on the day, Dan’s advice for anyone being interviewed for a job “if you’ve got this far, the employer has already read your CV and are confident that you can do the job. At this point you need to show them that you’re the right personality to fit the team so be yourself and have confidence”
